During the US war on Iraq and the afterwards during the occupation as many as 60 people were arrested or had files sent to the DPP for taking action against Irelands role in the war machine. Some are still waiting for verdicts, some have been found not guilty but quite a number have been convicted and fined for their part in opposing the war. read full story / add a comment

The bitter nine-month conflict, which has cost the Government £100 million, was resolved when 300 delegates from the Fire Brigades Union voted by 3-1 to accept the pay offer phased in over 30 months. But some delegates at a special conference in Glasgow were furious that the deal had been accepted and said that Andy Gilchrist, the union’s general secretary, (who was backed by the SP) would face a leadership challenge. The deal, which will give the average qualified firefighter £25,000 a year from July 2004, is a far cry from the 40 per cent pay demand tabled by the union last April. Ok I haven't talking to any Belgium people to heard their viewpoint on having NATO headquarters in their country. I'm sure there are a number of people in Belgium that would love to see the day that NATO packed its bags and moved on. In the light of this, the Belgium people should prevent their government in changing the law to put foreigners on trial for war crimes. read full story / add a comment |
