At 9pm this evening outside Limerick prison, mulgrave street, limerick, a vigil will be held in solidarity and support for mary kelly, who is being held on the inside, while US military planes still land on the outside. I have told her about the vigil and where we will be at 9pm, so it would be great to see as many as possible outside the prison walls. she is in good spirits today and is warmed by all the support. and of course your presence is urgently needed at the peace camp as tracey has already appealed. in peace... read full story / add a comment

The Labour Party has stated its opposition to any US led war with Iraq, especially when the UN Inspectors have yet to complete their report and without any resolution from the UN Security Council. At 08:00am this morning, a team of volunteer Greenpeace climbers boarded a military supply ship bound for the Gulf and set up a peace camp. The volunteers climbed on to the vessel the MV Lyra as it was leaving its anchorage in the Solent. To call Blair a mere "poodle" is to allow him distance from the killing of innocent Iraqi men, women and children for which he will share responsibility. He is the embodiment of the most dangerous appeasement humanity has known since the 1930s. The current American elite is the Third Reich of our times, although this distinction ought not to let us forget that they have merely accelerated more than half a century of unrelenting American state terrorism: from the atomic bombs dropped cynically on Japan as a signal of their new power to the dozens of countries invaded, directly or by proxy, to destroy democracy wherever it collided with American "interests", such as a voracious appetite for the world's resources, like oil.
