Two of the groups campaigning for the survival of the Welsh language will join forces to draw attention to the housing crisis in the language’s heartlands. During Wales’ leading cultural festival and one of the biggest in Europe, the National Eisteddfod, which is on from 2nd to the 9th August, Cymuned (Community) and Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg (The Welsh Language Society) will come together for the first time to mount a joint protest on the Eisteddfod field. According to the joint organisers, the purpose of the protest is ‘to draw attention to the housing crisis that is undermining communities across Wales, and to stress certain steps the Welsh Assembly Government could take to get to grips with the problem’. read full story / add a comment

Iraqis can now have mobile phones, but only from Bush friendly companies. Soon, the people of Iraq and Afghanistan will have airlines again. They will be the same planes that carried the troops for the war. Guess the troops smashing up the Iraqi state owned aircraft was just "eliminating the competition"? read full story / add a comment

SHOULD nationalists accept once and or all that unionists have the right to have their own identity and culture and to celebrate their own festivals, then calls for "calm" over the Twelfth period would be unnecessary. Cork neo-nazi Brian Wallace advertised a public meeting to be held at 3pm in Patrick Street in Cork today. In the event, he was the only neo-nazi to show up, but he was soon joined by about 16 or 17 anti-nazi protesters who effectively shooed him off the street - he eventually hid in a bookies office in Coburg Street. Below is his own view of this event, taken from U.S. neo-nazi site Stormfront.org read full story / add a comment |
