What are the plans for the post 15/2 era? I mean it seems sometimes as if we're all obsessed with building for the 15th, and it's necessary to put in the mountain of work I agree, but there doesn't seem to be much discussion about where we go after it. read full story / add a comment

Nobody owns the term "neutrality" of course, but some commentators in the media are choosing to deny its legal meaning so they can dismiss it entirely as a political, anti-British concept from 20th century Ireland. read full story / add a comment

With a looming war on Iraq, it would be useful for activists and citizens to have at hand various Iraq-related links, articles, and books to learn about Iraq and its people, the background to Persian Gulf War, and more important to refute the claims of the War Party. read full story / add a comment

At a time of cuts in social spending, of wholesale privatisations, of pitiless closures, rising prices and service charges, of arrests of building workers, when nurses are forced to threaten action about hospital conditions, when workers in CIE, Ballinasloe and the building industry are taking to the streets in anger, the Irish Congress of Trade Unions, instead of leading a fight back, wants another social partnership agreement with the rich and powerful. read full story / add a comment

Most of these are confirmed military flights, others need investigation. The number of flights is way over what the Government admits. and don't be put off by claims of "it's only going to Italy" A well worn flight path for the middle east war zone includes refuelling at Gander, Newfoundland, Shannon, Ireland, Sigonella (US Naval Air Station) in Siciliy, and then the Middle East... see Kuwait or Bahrain. It is perhaps fitting that when later today Mary Kelly receives the Michael Flannery Memorial Award in Queens, New York, she will be in jail. Her real, symbolic act in taking a hatchet to the U.S. war machine puts her in good company. As the Anglo-American Imperium embarks on their mad mission to control the world Mary's gallant action links the oldest anti-imperialist struggle of all, that of Ireland's people, with the developing struggle against imperialisms current manifestation led by Bush and his English poodle, Blair. Michael Flannery took up arms against British imperialism in his native county Tipperary and when exiled continued the struggle. There are those who will try to coast on Mary Kelly's bravery and sacrifice, but still the truth is clear: a felons cap is the noblest crown an Irish head can wear. read full story / add a comment |
