Tonight the choice has been made: Peter Cassells is the Labour candidate for the
new East constituency. As a Party member and its Deputy Leader I am very proud
to be able to say that. We are extremely fortunate that we have had two such
excellent candidates in Peter Cassells and Peter Ward. Two Peters from County
Meath and both, I have no doubt, with a bright political future. read full story / add a comment

Input, commentary and criticism from users of the site are welcome on this thread, and this will be taken into account before the guidelines are formalised.

Owen Rice, anti-war activist, was arrested, and then beaten in police
custody in Galway two weeks ago during protests at the EU meeting there.

He was taken (by the Garda) to hospital as a result of the injuries inflicted on him.

He is in court in Galway on Monday Feb. 2nd on charges trumped up during the assault he endured. Full details (including photos) of this event are on www.indymedia.ie

The court is the big neo-classical building opposite the Town Hall Theatre just down from the big church yoke that you pass if you are going from uni. to town. You can go for the whole day if you want, but for people who cannot a picket/protest/whatever is being called for one o'clock 1pm happening just outside the courthouse. read full story / add a comment
