Perhaps a protest at the Italian embassy is in order, November 15th, early morning: 42 people have been arrested with charges of conspiracy and "subversive association" (art.270 bis c. p. Italy). The charges against them are of political conspiracy to disturb government activity, subversive propaganda aimed at subverting economic order. They are directly connected to the G8 protests in Genova and the Napoli Global Forum. read full story / add a comment

The fallout from the European Social Forum among left wing parties, groups and individuals should be huge. The organisers of the ESF, many of whom were involved in the Genoa Social Forum, estimated that attendance would be around 20,000 for the forum and 150000 for the demonstration. In fact, 57,000 signed up for meetings for the FIRST European Social Forum and 1 million marched read full story / add a comment

In Ireland, Marxism is for a) posh gits with nothing better to be doing with their time or b) "D4" types who can afford to embrace socialism, because they know that when the economy goes belly-up, they'll still be able to get a job in Daddy's accountancy firm in Foxrock. So if 70 years of Russian history doesn't persuade all you D4 IndyMedia type tossers, then this article will. read full story / add a comment

The publication of a secret letter detailing "unorthodox" practices in the WSM is set to rock Indymedia. The letter, leaked to British anarchist paper "Class War" has been claimed to be "politcal dynamite". "This could finally be the explanation everyone has been waiting for as to why Ray C left the WSM in a huff a few months ago. Relations are strained between Andrew and others since a bizarre cult like wedding was enacted in the recent past. One Russian novelist declared "Fuck me sideways!" Rose was slated to win the Bakunin Brass Knuckle but no-one is clear if she is in or out. More later. read full story / add a comment

FIRE FIGHTERS get massive PUBLIC support, for their 2 day strike. Most people feel that the fire fighters DESERVE a pay rise. Unlike the useless RICH new labour/old tory politicians who award themselves massive pay hikes and earn over £60,000 per annum for sitting about talking crap, bullshiting and penny pinching the public purse while recklessly spending millions on luxuries,PR and pointless war mongering. read full story / add a comment

I wish to heartily thank the Socialist Party in Belfast for making possible our recruitment stand in Queens University. It isn't often we have such co-operation from the civilian population. But with ops hotting up in fuzzy-wuzzy-land we need all the strapping lads we can get. With a bit of luck we'll all be home for Christmas. I remember my grandfather Brigadeer "Potty" Smythe telling me how grateful he was to Mr Redmond for the help in the 1914 spat (and of course Labour too). Nice to know some things don't change. He had expressed the view that Jewish "settlers" were "Nazis" an anit-freespeech pressure group at Harvard has succeeded in having him his invitation withdrawn. The Irish Times graph showing the "winners and losers in the estimates" for government spending in 2003 shows that the State will expected to increase spending on "Secret Service" by %85. There aren't many increases expected, but the next largest is 16% for the Office of the DPP. What the hell are they spending all that money on? read full story / add a comment
