A military spokesman has confirmed the use of cluster bombs, where a large bomb container scatters hundreds of bomblets over a wide area. The bomblets explode shredding anyone in a radius of hundreds of meters with deadly shrapnel. According to the Geneva Convention, any airline that is involved in transporting military equipment or troops is a legitimate target in wartime. This includes individual flights that are not carrying anything dodgy, airline offices, warehouses, etc. NATO used this to justify some of the bombings it carried out in Serbia and Kosovo in 1999. The Los Angeles Times supposedly published a front-page photograph showing a UK soldier directing civilians to sit. A sharp-eyed reader spotted some aberrations in the photograph and the URL above appears to show that The LA Times has published an editorial retraction of the photo after contacting the photographer who has admitted compositing the photo from two others. read full story / add a comment
