UL Environmental Society are organising a bus over to The Really Big Blockade in Faslane on Tuesday the 22nd of April. You probably know this already, but here goes. All of Britain's nuclear weapons are stored in one base in Scotland: Faslane. There is an annual Blockade, organised by Scottish CND, among others, which protests against this horrible activity. So we want all interested parties to join us in this brilliant protest. We're leaving Limerick on the morning of Sunday the 20th (Easter) and going via Dublin and Belfast and we'll be back on the evening of Wednesday the 23rd. All accomodation will be looked after over there, cost will probably be 30-40 euro, funding welcome :-) Yours with the planet, St. John Ó Donnabháin, UL Enviro Soc read full story / add a comment

War should always be a last resort but the joy of the Iraqi people shows that even though he's an idiot Bush was right in his decision to invade the country. The deaths causes are regrettable but how many more would Saddam have killed and tortured if he's been left in place? How can you be against the war when it looks like the Iraqis are not? It reminds me of Glenda Jackson shouting down a pro-war Iraqi woman in a C4 News interview just cause she wasn't agreeing with her views. read full story / add a comment

A shadowy Jewish group called Revenge of the Infants claimed responsibility for an attack on asecondary school in the village of Jaba'a, south of Jenin, which injured 20 school children yesterday. Israeli police would not be drawn on whether the claim is credible in spite of the fact that lastyear, a bomb planted by the group in an east Jerusalem school playground injured eight children, and went so far as to suggest that the students themselves might have brought the bomb. The Israeli human rights group, B'tselem, has accused the Israeli authorities of "tacit consent" in these attacks by elements believed to operate among Jewish settlers in the West Bank. The police and army deny the charges. read full story / add a comment
