Protest at Dempsey's Visit to NUI Galway

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Wednesday April 09, 2003 23:31author by CFE Report this post to the editors

The Minister for Education, Noel Dempsey, is visiting NUI Galway on Friday morning. A protest has been called for 10 am at the quod to voice opposition to Dempsey's plans to reintroduce fees.

When Dempsey visits UCG on Friday morning it is essential that he is given the welcome that he deserves. Dempsey is intent in reintroducing college fees, while he has consistenly failed to widen access to education or to increase the pathetic grant.

When he steps foot in UCG, on Friday morning, it is essential that we make our views known to him.

Spread the word. Protest at the quod at 10 am on Friday morning.

If Dempsey wants to block our access to college - we'll block his access to our college.

he wants to change the system to make it fairer so working class students have a better support when they go to college. its odd to see "so called left wingers" opposing that.

John "Max Dempsey" Harvey that is bollocks. Do you really think that this government are commited to improving access to third level for the working class? If you do you are living on another planet.

If the FF party really care about the working class why have they launched cut backs left right and centre. Why have they cut the back to education scheme and new era etc.?

Another thing John what have you done to oppose the reintroduction of fees??Take some advice John, get over the elections, people are just laughing at you... again.

Dont vote for John Harvey he is only a careerist FGer that is in favour of fees and war.

Oh yeah I forgot elections already happened, hundreds already took my advice and gave Harvey the boot in favour of an anti-fees and ant-war candidate.
