Don't agree with everything in this press release - especially where they go on about the 'need' to exclude 'extremists' from the NO Campaign. What is an 'extremist' by their definition? Does this mean that the Workers Solidarity Movement and other Anarchist organisations are to be excluded from the NO to Nice Campaign because they are too 'extreme!? Does this mean that the Socialist Party and other genuine Socialist organisations are to be excluded from the NO to Nice Campaign because they are too 'extreme!? read full story / add a comment

The Ansbacher Report confirms what the ordinary working people of Ireland have known for most of their lives - ours is a society of unequals. An inequality that is institutionalised and leveraged by the powerful for their own political advantage and monetary gains. An inequality that is sustained and nurtured by the political system, which regulates for it. read full story / add a comment

Ireland's thriving arms industry The reality behind Irish 'neutrality' As the Indian and Pakistani governments still stand perilously close to nuclear war, as the Israeli Army occupies and destroys Palestine town by town, and the US administration pursues its war aganst "the axis of evil" in the Third World, the armaments industry has taken a great leap forward. read full story / add a comment

The anti-Catholic factions within Unionism may bring about the collapse of the GFA. In such a scenario the inevitable outcome may be joint authority. The British Government has already accepted in principal joint sovereignty for Gibraltar. Such a solution could represent an honourable and final compromise for the north's conflicting nationalisms. read full story / add a comment

A deal has been struck whereby the US will be immune from prosecution for any war crime for at least a year. The US stance is basically an admission that they carry out war crimes around the world. The claim that there will be "serious consequences" if an US citizen is hauled up before the court just shows what a joke the whole thing is. read full story / add a comment

How about mobile surveillance units in working class areas at the weekends. This morning I heard a couple of addicts on the bus saying their friend was complaining about being beaten by police since 'after that dame street thing they won't get away with it anymore'. Two young Dublin women who claimed they were subjected to a vicious, unprovoked attack by two Gardaí have received an apology and damages in a High Court settlement. Gráinne and Ciara Walsh, both dress designers, from Castleknock in Dublin had sued the Garda Commissioner and the State over the incident which happened on Grafton Street in April 1998. On the occasion in question, the sisters were with a group of friends on Grafton Street in Dublin when a white car reversed towards read full story / add a comment
