If anybody out there is seriously interested in doing something to stop the use of Shannon in this war, please come to Shannon anytime over the next 10 days. Ed Horgan's case against the government is in the High Court on Thursday and we really need to have people here logging the flights and making visible protest. If you can spare a few hours anytime of day or night, call us on 061-365871. If you come and camp you can use our house as base. If you come without a tent we can put you up, we might even feed you if you're lucky. Just get here please. Israeli public-sector workers are intensifying an indefinite strike in protest at austerity plans, which the government says is vital to rescue the stagnant economy. Some 100,000 municipal workers joined the strike on Monday, adding to 50,000 ministry employees who walked out on Sunday. The protest will halt refuse collection, close some schools, disrupt welfare activity, and even prevent enforcement of parking regulations. Unions have threatened a general strike over a sweeping government programme of cut-backs in public expenditure, including 10% pay cuts for civil servants. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/2902261.stm read full story / add a comment
