On Saturday 22nd of March, the Sligo Anti War Movement intend to have a rally on O'Connell St., Sligo to show that the people of Sligo are opposed to a war against Iraq. The event will be addressed by a number of, as yet unknown, speakers, as well a number of musicians who will try to make lots of noise. The intended action in the event of the war starting will also be outlined including the 10 minute work stoppage at midday on the day of the invasion, as well as the wearing of white armbands, to indicate the opinion of those who wear them is that war is unjustified, and peace must prevail. Flyers with the this information will be distributed during the St. Patricks day parade also. Does the Taoiseach realise that if according to schedule he will present himself before President Bush on the White House lawn the day after tomorrow and politely present him with a bowl of shamrock, an emblem of the Irish people and make polite conversation with the President, this will be seen as solace and support for that President's war plans? It will be interpreted as such among the millions in the Arab world and among people who do not want to see this bloody adventure launched. Kildare agreed to a settlement with their employer, the Refround Textile group.
