Friends - with Bush's plans to attack Iraq in December on the basis of failed UN inspections, the Anti War Movement in Belfast has called a meeting this Wednesday to discuss state of opposition and what we can do here. The Ireland Palestine Solidarity Committee are providing a speaker and there will be contributions from those that attended the million strong Italian demo against the war at the ESF. An American anti war activist will also be adding to the discussion. Thousands of anti-war activist across the UK are taking to the streets today in protest at the government's plans to join a US led attack against Iraq. Actions planned include critical mass bike rides, occupations, and a mass demonstrations in Parliament Square at 5:30pm. Everybody is being asked to join in the non-violent resistance against war and oppression by engaging in acts of civil disobedience, however large or small. Prior to the sun rising this morning, Anti-war slogans were projected onto the houses of parliament. Other actions are being created throughout the day and reports so far include; a "disco akt-ion" at Liverpool Street station in London; Women blocked Westminster bridge with street theatre - puppets and music, leading to an arrest after police forcefully intervened. Following their sell out success at this years Dublin Fringe Festival Spacecraft return to The Larkin Room in Liberty Hall with their exciting new adaptation of Dario Fo's political satire Accidental Death of An Anarchist. The text has been reworked to a contemporary Dublin context and explores the aftermath of recent police violence.
