Ireland spent a day on the autopsy of an event that in less dangerous times would have consumed the meeja in a raging bushfire for a week. A prominent member of the Cork Peace Alliance has received a seven month suspended jail sentence for “assisting” in the cutting of a fence at the exclusive Old Head of Kinsale Golf Course last year. This is the second interim report prepared by a delegation of political and legal observers that attended the trial of Niall Connolly, Martin McCauley and Jim Monaghan in Colombia in February and March 2003. The delegation from Ireland comprised of Fianna Fail Senator Mary White, Sinn Fein TD, Sean Crowe, solicitor Pat Daly and Rory Munro BL. Park Constables attempted to prevent the group of protesters walking through Stephen's Green to Iveagh House. They said "No advertising allowed". What did they think we were advertising? Pictures of dead children! Their attempts were to no avail and the protest continued in front of Iveagh House. read full story / add a comment

Worried that the PSNI surveillance squad were getting tired of filming protestors at the US Consulate, Bellybuttons Against the War decided to create a spectacle at today's picket. Around 40 people in all took part in the picket which lasted about an hour. A police camera and microphone were in operation for the duration. once again the protesters took to the streets of Dublin. But this time they brought their friends... for the first time in quite a while the riot police were brought on the streets of Dublin. What started out as a peaceful protest was soiled by the oppressive arm of the state. Approximately 300-400 protesters were forcefully removed from the roadway and a small number had to be brought to hospital suffering from acute state-government brusing. read full story / add a comment
