In its ongoing campaign of picketing Galway businesses unethically selling Israeli products, activists with the Free Palestine Campaign are assiduous in their duty to conscience and human rights, of equal committment to base slander, malevolence and malodorous porkies are the management and security of Woodies DIY store, off the Headford Road, Galway, who unfailingly call in the Gardai to get rid of us on spurious and malevolent grounds: that we abuse, swear at and curse their customers, are aggressive towards them, block the entrance to their store and the area, which is a public space for commercial activities, is "private property." read full story / add a comment ![]()

...and they are very very angry. ...yes anger, shock, disgust and a determination to respond in some way against the Irish government and Shell. That was the general feeling of the vast majority of up to 20, 000 people who took a leaflet at the two day public engagement at the GPO. Many people stopped at the display and engaged with the campaigners. Norwegian, Dutch, Irish, South African, American, with people from all walks of life and many more countries taking the leaflet. Thanks to everyone that helped out, they were two long days, but they were worth it. Watch the events page for more leafletting in Dublin and updates on other activities. read full story / add a comment ![]()

Joe Higgins MEP on why he'll be campaigning against the rerun of the Lisbon Treaty and how this provides a real challenge and opportunity for the left. Less than two weeks after the Euro Election campaign a Euro related charade is about to be visited on the Irish people. We are now being told that the FiannaFail/Green Party Coalition Government will present us with the Lisbon Treaty for a vote in late September or early October as soon as the EU Heads of State agree ‘legal guarantees’ apparently clarifying what the Treaty really means. Lest anybody forgot, we voted on this Treaty in June of last year and by a convincing majority the Irish electorate rejected it. However, that did not please the Euro elite which was shocked at our insolence in daring to take a view different to what it has determined in our interests. read full story / add a comment

The Iranian government’s campaign to mold ‘model’ Islamic citizens has not only fashioned a profound crisis of loyalty to the religious ‘ideals of the revolution’, it has nurtured action that many have silently prayed for - as the public sphere, the last bastion of the religious elites grip on power, was shot open by their own guns Sunday. read full story / add a comment ![]()

This is a statement from the Syndicate of Workers of Tehran and Suburbs Vahed Bus Company. This union has a long history of struggle for econnomic and civil rights. Here they make clear that there must be a struggle for the rights of all Iranians who have been oppressed. This article is supposed to be available on http://www.justiceforiranianworkers.org/ but that site is down at present. So I am posting it in full here. In line with the recognition of the labour rights, we request that June 26 Action Day - Justice for Iranian workers - to include the human rights of all Iranians who have been deprived of their rights. read full story / add a comment ![]()

We wish to announce the formation of IFPAL, Irish Friends of Palestine Against Lisbon. Below is a copy of an email I recieved from Stevo... I've just been texted that the Solitaire is currently anchored off Donegal. This steps the need for people present on camp even higher. Subsequently anybody that can make it up there should try to do so. As I have been saying people are needed both to help run the camp and perform the actual actions. But they are needed NOW. Anybody with access to spare boats, could they please donate them now too. read full story / add a comment ![]()

Just before you reach for your pay-4-view digital TV zapper and start flicking through the Italian news channels to find coverage of these latest revealations, let me tell you, if indeed you needed to know, that Berlusconi's media empire have hidden the story from Italian viewers salicious and prurient interest. Nonetheless, Patrizia D'Addario, an experienced sex worker of certain allure & also a candidate in Berlusconi's party for the municipal government of Bari, attended a court hearing investigating charges of corruption laid against one of Mr B's party who doesn't have immunity yesterday. She brought along half a dozen video and audio recordings, in the best tradition of citizen journalism recorded on her mobile phone which attested to Mr B's escort service habit. read full story / add a comment

Eirigí members had a very successful action at a $hell PR briefing in Buswell's Hotel, Dublin. Seven Eirigí members turned up with their banner and excellent arguments and many questions for the four gurus? = apocolyptic horse soldiers of the giant multinational oil company, that is ($)hell. As an observer, it was very interesting to see and hear what some of the visitors from across the road (the Dáil -Irish Parliament) had to say to the blippers of spin. This was a hastily convened and 'played down' (their words) PR attempt by $hell and in my opinion, a disaster. *Blip = An unexpected, minor and usually temporary deviation from a trend. read full story / add a comment ![]()
