Peter Benenson, the founder of the worldwide human rights organisation Amnesty International, died yesterday evening. He was 83. Mr Benenson founded and inspired Amnesty International in 1961 first as a one-year campaign for the release of six prisoners of conscience. Its poor worker relations in other countries and preference for non-unionised workforces. Its current struggle with the Irish Airline Pilots Association. Its history of fraudalent advertising. Again and Again it has proved to be "the unacceptable face of capitalism". This morning Ryanair will close a deal with Boeing to purchase at a cost 4.5billion€ a fleet of aircraft.
