The Union Of Students Of Ireland National Demonstration took place today in Dublin city centre.
The protest was called to highlight and oppose the threats of fees and privatisation in education.

The Council of Dublin City voted tonight to pass the Estimates, with a minor amendment from FF by 32 votes to 15. The Estimates were supported by Labour, FG and FF councillors.

Those who voted against were Sinn Fein (10) the Independents (3) and two others believed to be one Labour (Eric Byrne) and one FG.

About 100 An Post workers demonstrated outside a meeting of the An Post Board of Directors in the GPO this morning. The Communications Workers Union (CWU) were highlighting current dissatisfaction in SDS,loss of jobs etc. Members of the Civil Public & Service Union (CPSU) also participated in this morning's protest and the CPSU banner was also there as we were publicising the lack of payment of Sus.Progress (2 phases now worth 5%!) and related problems.
