Two members of the radical anti-war Catholic Worker Movement (see www.catholicworker.org) were arrested inside Shannon Airport in the early hours of Good Friday. Jenny Hannon of Dublin and Martin McGowan of Sligo were detained by airport security and police after making their way into the airfield. They had constructed a shrine to the Iraqis slain in the recent U.S. military assault, conducted the Catholic Office of the Dead and began to plant a bed of potatoes. By 3.45am they were still airside, where they continued their libation at the edge of the runway in peace. ... read full story / add a comment

It is worthwhile to explain why the chaos in post-Saddam Iraq is not anarchy nor, in fact, a case against anarchism. ... read full story / add a comment

Comrades, On this, the 87th anniversary of the Irish Citizen Army marching into the streets of Dublin to set an example for the working class of Europe then engaged in fratricidal war against one another, to free Ireland of its long oppression and occupation, and to bring to birth an Irish Socialist Republic, I am proud to bring greetings from the comrades, supporters, and friends of the Irish Republican Socialist Movement in England, Scotland, Canada, the United States, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, New Zealand, and Australia.
