Galway City Council last night unanimously passed an anti-war resolution, which was proposed by Alderman Catherine Connolly of Labour. The resolution was raised ‘in solidarity’ with Galway’s twin cities, Seattle and Chicage, both of whose councils have adopted anti-war positions. Alderman Connolly urged her colleagues to show leadership on the issue, “especially when Shannon is in the next county to us”. This morning at 9am the archeologists began work on the wall preparing for it's removal from the site. Carrickminders sat along the wall preventing them from numbering the stones or any other preparation, and attempts were halted after about two hours.
