dunno if any of u IMCers are familiar with the comic genius that is Alan Partridge (aka Steeve Coogan), but in the series 'I'm Alan Partridge' he had a thing where he would come up with an 'idea for program' (eg Ladyshapes with Alan Partridge -"I, Alan Partridge take a look at the changing shape of women through the ages" or "Monkey Tennis") , anyway on the BBC website the have a 'submit your own Alan ideas' section, and i have to say the best idea i have seen is for a program called "Stutter Nonsense" in which people with stutters are made to recite poetry for prizes . well if this show ever goes to air, i recommend that on the first show we have p-p-p-pick up a Proinsias reciting the communist manifesto. "A spectre is ha-ha-ha-haunting eur-r-r-ope, the s-s-s-spectre of s-s-s-sell out f-f-f-f-fucks, um i mean c-c-c-c-c-comun-comun-comun-jaysus, i cant s-s-s-say the word" - NEXT! (anyone with a stutter, dont take offence please see the humour inherent in the system)
grow up.
You labour party bastard. You are a bosses party. There is no difference between those Labour bastards and the FF/FG/PD Tories. They are all a bunch of careerists and university lecturers.
NO TO LABOUR PARTY IN ANTI WAR MOVEMENT!
Well done labour bandwagoners, getting all radical just like the Bunny ordered. The poor carrickminders will have to abandon their posts soon if this lovebombing continues.
As for Mr.Photo Opportunist De Rossa, now that he's into supporting direct action (though of a somewhat different nature to the kind of direct action his former sticky friends engaged in)can we expect to see him out supporting the building workers, the Cityjet workers, the Shannon Peace Camp, those prosecueted for refusing to pay bin charges etc. etc.? Thought not.
Now that he's lost in the leafy suburbs of the southside wonder if he remembers a place called Finglas?
i'll let you guess what p.c.p stands for.
i bet you find Alan Partridge and Brasseye offensive too?
unfortunatley for the likes of you, this is humour in the yardankities.
If the worst you can sling ay the man is his stammer, and the fact he chose to provide well for his family, then you are both stupid and begrudging. The man has put in his time on worthy campaigns for many years, and if he chooses to go see what's happening in carrickmines then it's only for the good.
Take your inane comments and stick them where the sun don't shine.
"No to Labour in the anti-war movement"
WHAT COCK!
The more people who oppose the war the better. Some of us actually want to stop it. Not score points off our political opponents. If Labour want to help, that's fine by me. more the merrier! The issue is too important to engage in whiny shit like this.
You people are totally pathetic. I'm wondering though, maybe you're some sort of special branch person trying to make the left fight amongst themselves. You are definately pro-war by your actions, that's for sure.
Labour are not lefts for christs sake! They are capitalist careerists that are only involved in the anti war movement in order to try to resusitate their dead party by appearing more left wing. Don't trust these people they only care about themselves!
Did anyone see their latest leaflet abou the war?
It calls for "MORE 'humane' sanctions against Iraq!!"
These people are actually pro war the only problem they have is that it does not have UN backing!
DONT TRUST THESE CAPITALISTS!
BUILD THE WORKERS MOVEMENT AGAINST THE WAR!
One thing I'm certain of is that De Rossa and other Labour members like myself have spent more time supporting the carrickmines campaign than some of the moaners who have commented above.
Have any of them even ever been out to Carrickmines Castle?
Of course I'm not claiming that Labour or DeRossa have played an "instrumental role" in the campaign or anything. Anyone who has been involved will know very well that the vast majority of work has been put in by activists not in any party at all as well as the odd member of the greens and even one member of Sinn Féin.
Point is what have the people posting above ever done to support the campaign?
"Labour are not left"
I don't agree. But even if you think they're not left, so what?
They are against the war. That's all that matters.
Cian, when have you or your fellow careerists in the labour party ever been involved in any real campaigns? I would have some respect for you if you were involved in the labour movement and in community struggles.
