Car Free Day was celebrated in more than 1100 European cities and towns and even some in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia and Taiwan. Whereas most main cities in Europe closed off entire sections of the city, the Dublin City Council closed off no roads this year. To add to this their publicity of the event was so bad that most people were unaware it was Car Free Day. ... read full story / add a comment

Thursday September 25th saw solidarity blockades taking place in at least 3 local communities that I know of. Stoneybatter, Finglas & East Wall all blockaded trucks for periods of time this morning. Another was scheduled for the early evening in another area of the city, although I have heard no news of that. These are only the actions that I know of through personal contacts so there may have been more in other areas. It has just been announced that the worlds Premiere War Monger is to visit London on Nov 19th-21st.
Bush and his wife will be staying at Buckingham Palace.
There will no doubt be a two tier reception to Bushs' visit, one of Royal hospitality by the Queen, Blair and the Labour gov. who as the world knows are Bushs' foot soldiers, the other will be the voices of truth and opposition coming from the streets surrounding Buckingham Palace.
