Thursday September 25th saw solidarity blockades taking place in at least 3 local communities that I know of. Stoneybatter, Finglas & East Wall all blockaded trucks for periods of time this morning. Another was scheduled for the early evening in another area of the city, although I have heard no news of that. These are only the actions that I know of through personal contacts so there may have been more in other areas. This is an account of the Stoneybatter blockade which I took part in. ... read full story / add a comment

It has just been announced that the worlds Premiere War Monger is to visit London on Nov 19th-21st.
Bush and his wife will be staying at Buckingham Palace.
There will no doubt be a two tier reception to Bushs' visit, one of Royal hospitality by the Queen, Blair and the Labour gov. who as the world knows are Bushs' foot soldiers, the other will be the voices of truth and opposition coming from the streets surrounding Buckingham Palace.

From Press Statement Feb 2001.

SECRETARY POWELL:
We had a good discussion, the Foreign Minister and I and the President and I, had a good discussion about the nature of the sanctions -- the fact that the sanctions exist -- not for the purpose of hurting the Iraqi people, but for the purpose of keeping in check Saddam Hussein's ambitions toward developing weapons of mass destruction. We should constantly be reviewing our policies, constantly be looking at those sanctions to make sure that they are directed toward that purpose. That purpose is every bit as important now as it was ten years ago when we began it. And frankly they have worked. He has not developed any significant capability with respect to weapons of mass destruction. ... read full story / add a comment
