As the the Bush administration escalates it's war on the poor ,nonviolent resistance grows amongst the U.S. civilian population and within the U.S. military. Any serious movement that challenges power will have it's prisoners. Prison is designed to isolate, demoralise and crush the resister.

A smple way to counter such isolation is sending a letter or postcard to peace prisoners in military brigs, county jails and federal pens.

From personal experience I can assure you that getting such correspondence from Ireland when your living in a cage or cell lifts morale, makes it safer with the guards and is big hit fellow prisoners (especially stamp collecters!).

If you're going to write a letter against the war - makeit to a peace prisoner rather than a politician! ... read full story / add a comment

At 9:15 this morning, as I was walking on O'Connell street, I noticed a gathering of people (70/130) at the Spire, all wearing the same bib with the Gama logo on the back, and a construction helmet.

After the first few "I don't speak English" responses, I was directed towards a man with a mobile. He explained the crowd were workers from Gama, a Turkish corporation, contracting the workers for wages of 2 to 3 Euro per hour. The workers had walked out en masse this morning. ... read full story / add a comment

A new statistical analysis published on 31 March indicates that the official vote tallies in the presidential election of November 2004 may have been altered in favour of George Bush. The authors of the analysis demand a thorough investigation of the discrepancies between exit polls, which predicted that John Kerry would win by a margin of 3% of the popular vote, and official vote tallies, which awarded Bush the victory by a margin of 2.5%.

Americans are not taking the presidential election fraud of November 2004 lying down. Members of a grassroots pro-democracy movement are organising teach-ins, house parties and conferences to educate themselves about how election fraud is committed and how to combat it.

Must-see video clips of speakers at the teach-in held in Santa Monica on 26 February.

More information about the organisation of teach-ins, including more links to video materials. ... read full story / add a comment
