I would like to thank the Socialist Party for blocking the honouring of Pat Finucane in Queens University. Coming after their support for the recruitment stall for the British Army this was greatly welcomed. In particular I would like to say say how much I appreciated their Marxist line that any bursary named after Pat Finucane would be sectarian. From our perspective any Catholic civil rights lawyer is Republican and therefore with British Intelligence we organise to kill them. Obviously to oppose this policy is sectarian. Thanks a lot to all the lads in the SP for giving us and our paymasters Left cover. Please renew our subscription to the Voice. ... read full story / add a comment

Noticed in the Irish Times there yesterday, that the Socialist Party chose to attend the opening sessions of the so called "Forum for Peace and Reconciliation". True, Sinn Fein also chose not to attend but what reasons can the SP give for their attendance, other that they have a TD in the Dail. From today's Guardian at http://www.guardian.co.uk/globalisation/story/0,7369,849983,00.html ----------- Good morning. I hope you made that cup of coffee yourself, because today is Buy Nothing Day, an anti-consumerist celebration that appeals to both the very ethical and the very cheap. The 11th annual break from the shops falls the day after Thanksgiving, the US holiday that traditionally sounds a starting gun for an all-out, hedonistic rush to the shops for Christmas goodies. Adbusters, the group behind Buy Nothing Day, want people to stop consuming for 24 hours and consider alternatives to a Christmas that costs money. ... read full story / add a comment
