Solar farms are an ecological disaster. Birds frequently fly into them, mistaking them for water, while electrocution and incineration are common. But you won't hear about this in the mainstream media, says Chris Morrison.

Read the letter by John Throne which was suppressed by the SP Troika. Make your own mind up. "The older more experienced leaders of the SP know that if the Comrades were to take up these policies which I advocate they would come under attack from the CWI leadership. After 25 years in the CWI, 23 as a full timer I was slandered , fired without any compensation or pension, left with hospital bills the CWI refused to pay, expelled from the CWI and refused my right to appeal against my expulsion. Partly this was to discourage others from taking an independent position inside the CWI. As I say the Comrades would come under severe attack. But it is at times like these that we have to decide what our priorities are, where our loyalties are, what it means to be a revolutionary." John throne ... read full story / add a comment

The power of angry propaganda is that it rewrites history through the victimization of peace-loving peoples. Such is the case of Christian Assyrians now living in the Middle East. They have and continue to endure butchery and abuse at the hands of Arab despots. Consequently, they now live in a perpetual diaspora such as the Jewish people suffered for hundreds of years before the formation of the State of Israel in 1948. While the pro-Arab Western media largely ignores their voices and ancient heritage, it is the belief of Christian Assyrians that “Israelis have a superior claim to Jerusalem” over that of Yasser Arafat’s Palestinians. ... read full story / add a comment

For all of Sharons talk there now appears to be an Israeli shoot-to-kill policy against peace-activists in addition to their shameful record of shooting Palestinian civilians as evidenced by the shooting in the head of two peace activists in the past week. A British peace activist was shot in the head yesterday as he tried to help a Palestinian woman and her children flee Israeli gunfire. Last week, Brian Avery, 24, another activist from New Mexico, was shot in the face by Israeli soldiers in Jenin. The Israelis refuse to comment on the "investigations" into these attempted murders as well as that of Rachel Corrie, no doubt in the hope of "managing" the release of the reports at an opportune time for Israel. ... read full story / add a comment

Over the last dozen years I made 13 trips to Baghdad to lobby the government to keep CNN's Baghdad bureau open and to arrange interviews with Iraqi leaders. Each time I visited, I became more distressed by what I saw and heard — awful things that could not be reported because doing so would have jeopardized the lives of Iraqis, particularly those on our Baghdad staff. ... read full story / add a comment

Approximately 800-1000 people braved the long journeys, temperamental Irish weather and persistent global propaganda to join together and call once again for the immediate withdrawal of us military aircraft and personal using Shannon wirport for stopover and refuelling and of course an end to the barbaric war in Iraq. The good-natured crowd marched and sang their way from the car park in the town centre, to outside the heavily barricaded warport where a number of speeches were made. They later broke up and made their war peacefully home ... read full story / add a comment

Yesterday on the way to a peaceful protest at shannon the Galway bus was stopped by Gardai and pulled to the side of the road. Gardai boarded the bus and proceeded to inform us that they were searching us and our belongings under the public order act, as they had reasonable suspicion we might be carrying items which could be used as weapons. They searched all our bags and coats and the boot of the bus. They were quite thorough and searched everyone even a blind woman who was travelling with us. ... read full story / add a comment
