Where are the weapons of mass destruction?![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Lieutenant-General Amer Hammoudi al-Saadi, who handed himself over to US forces yesterday, continued to proclaim that Iraq no longer holds any chemical or biological weapons. The US has already told us there are 14,000 sites and that they have "secret information" showing exactly where the sites are. A substantial number of these sites have been inspected by the invading troops. Evidence of a "grave and gathering" threat......Zero. In his State of the Union address in early February, President Bush was quite specific about the materials he believed Saddam was hiding: 25,000 litres of anthrax, 38,000 litres of botulinum toxin and 500 tons of sarin, mustard and nerve gas. These days, he does not mention weapons of mass destruction at all, focusing instead on the liberation of the Iraqi people – as if liberation, not disarmament, had been the project all along. They said there were WMD....wrong! They said there would be a "red line" the US would cross triggering the use of WMDs...........Wrong! They said the people would rise with them against Saddam..........Wrong! They said they wouldn't use cluster bombs oncivilian areas......wrong! They said they would obey the rules of the Geneva Convention.............wrong! THey said they wouldn't target journalists.......wrong! They told us over and over they had found WMDs......wrong! Saddam was dead , Ali was comical and Om Qsar was taken (again)......wrong! They said their troops were brave courageous soldiers and they would be looked after.......wrong!
These military families in the states who are going into debt because their husbands are not home to work the second and third job they need to survive could do with some of the billions being spent on this war. They could do with schools and hospitals too, every bit as much as Iraq. Not that the US has any intention of building infrastructure for the Iraqi people no more than for their own people, unless at some point in the future they have a few billion in the "Iraqi Oil Account" which they need to spend on contracts to their friends or they might have to actually give it to "the Iraqi People" Now they want to invade Syria ...........wrong!

For instance those "Colon" Powell showed at his infamous press conference?
However you neglect to point out that they also revecive all food and board. Also if you do four years in the military you can have up to $33,000 when you leave to pay for college. Not so bad really.
As usual MacKenna is talking through his arse again.
By the way what about the 500,000 Iraqi citizens who were supposed to die in this war......Wrong!!!
Poor (or otherwise) treatment of US soldiers may not be important in deciding wether or not a war is justified (and it rarely is). What do you think?
Granted, it's all part of the bigger picture, but killing of civilians (or soldiers) by US troops would not be justified though the troops eat off golden plates and bath in asses milk.
are in the head.
Although wmd have not been found in Iraq the Americans are quite right to insist that they are there alright. The reason the americans are sure they are there is because rumsfeld still has the invoice from when they sold it to them in the 80's.
of course weapons will be found but give it a few weeks so the US can plant them.
To pay my way through college.for the simple reasons of[1] I didnt have a rich Daddy and mummy to pay my way here in exhorbiant fees for college here in eighties Ireland. [2] the qualifications for a third rate education in Ireland were ridicilous. having the irish leaving was enough to get me into an american college enterance.
3] the Irish army didnt want or were recruiting at the time.[4] the UNMENTIONED thing in these posts is the fact that the pay is low is the FRINGE benefits of the US armed forces is enormous.
FREE, Health and dental care[ prohibitive as a US citizen] inc your direct next of kin, wife and children,Inc Maternity benefits
FREE in some cases housing for married personel.
90% discount shopping at the PX store for families of enlisted personel on active service.[A supermarket for military personel.Everything bar drink].
All in all I dont regret it.And 99% of folk who did the GI bill never regretted it either.Ask Colin Powell.
espat makes an interesting point that so far 500,000 thousands civilians didn't die
i guessing the number is only in its thousnads at the mo or hundreds but i wondering if 1/2 million was a long term estimate.
the main reason more civilians weren't killed was because there was so little fight put up by the iraqis
even the us expected the national guard to put up a fight so even they didn't "so few to die"
....
