BERKAN ABATAY is the 6th death under the AKP government. The 6th death in the one and a half months of the AKP government is clear proof that from the day it entered government it has continued tyranny and that in the matter of repression, bans, isolation and massacres it does not lag behind previous governments. ... read full story / add a comment

I understand in a few days they're closing down for good the Ireland indymedia. When I read that on American indymedia.org, I spent a few minutes scanning your site to see what's what. I must say, I agree with the closing. You people are not intellectually mature enough to warrant an indymedia site. If you're not knocking the USA, you're taking on the Jews (old hat for the Irish, no?). Anyway, good-bye and good riddance. If you get your act together some day, I'll be in line to welcome you back. ... read full story / add a comment

THE NATIONAL PLATFORM 24 Crawford Avenue Dublin 9 Tel.: 01 - 8305792 Web-site: www.nationalplatform.org E-mail: [email protected] Saturday 21 December 2002 Dear Friends, On behalf of the National Platform, my colleagues and I would like to thank you for your efforts to defend Ireland's national independence and democracy in last October's Nice referendum. Despite the Government's change to the referendum rules and the trick referendum question, nearly two-fifths of Irish voters still voted No. In Nice Two the total No vote was slightly up on the first Nice referendum. The Yes-side won however because of the increased turnout, which was mostly Yes, although probably a 'soft' Yes. Below for your information is a summary of the reasons why the National Platform believes the result was as it was. The EU is now planning an EU Constitution, which will override the Irish Constitution. This will effectively turn the Republic of Ireland of which ... read full story / add a comment

In a circular to members and supporters the 'NO TO NICE' campaign, the National Platform has said that as a result of the yes vote and subsequent developments post referendum "The EU is now planning an EU Constitution, which will override the Irish Constitution. This will effectively turn the Republic of Ireland of which we are citizens into a province of a Federal EU State, with virtually no national democracy or independence left." The organisation has circulated its comments and is inviting participants to contribute their comments about the direction any protest will take from here on. National Platform Secretary Anthony Coughlan says; My colleagues and I would like you to write to us to tell us what steps you think could be taken to prevent this EU Constitution being imposed on us? What do you think needs to be done to defend such national democracy as we have left in ... read full story / add a comment

This Christmas 14 million ethiopian catholics, christians, jews and muslims are straving to death. In a famine more widespread and horrific than the 1984 famine. Imagine if there were people straving to death on our doorsteps, on the street outside your houses, how could we stuff our faces, and ignore the cries of the hungry and the poor. This is how ... read full story / add a comment

In a little church just off the Mother of All Alleys in downtown Baghdad is clear proof of Saddams weapons program. Inside the Church of St Rufus the Dog Walker is a golden cookie jar with wafers and cheap wine. These a precursors of flesh and blood. And not just any flesh and blood but that a "Supreme Being". Weapons inspectors have found that a man in a round collar waving the cookie jar around intoning "Dominus Vobiscum" begins the process of turning these seemingly innocent articles, hitherto permitted under the oil for food program into a deadly weapon. These dual use commodities are clear evidence of a material breach of the UN resolutions and permit only one response: Total War! Accordingly this will begin early in the new year. Go in peace and pray for me! ... read full story / add a comment
