About 200 people have been arrested at Faslane nuclear weapons base in Scotland during a peaceful nonviolent blockade there on Monday 1st October to mark the culmination of Faslane365, a year of resistance. Among those arrested was Mark Chapman from Belfast who said, “I have traveled here to Faslane to uphold international law. A large Ógra Shinn Féin delegation numbering over 20 activists have completed a week long tour of the Basque country. The Irish delegation was there to support the Basque youth organisation, SEGI, after being deemed a ‘terrorist organisation’ by the Spanish judiciary. They were also there to update the Basque on the current situation in Ireland and also to learn the lessons of the pro independence movement in the Basque country.

Yesterday, Galway Food Not Bombs offered fresh organic vegetarian food to Galwegians again. But what's even more important, new ideas were realized and more activists recruited in the form of Gala, a FNB activist from New York city and Qanita, a Pakistani woman, living in Galway, who after contacting us, kindly showed up with her own home-cooked traditional Pakistani food and two young sons to dispense it.
