As part of the process of getting an anarchist/libertarian campaign against the Nice treaty going the WSM is hosting a discussion of the aims etc of such a campaign at Ecotopia, this Sunday (18th August) at 14.30. Those of you aware of the beauty and serenity to be found on our national monument the Hill of Tara will be concerned to learn that the noise pollution there is will increase considerably if the proposed M3 Clonee/North of Kells Motorway goes ahead. As it is the traffic passing on the existing Navan - Dublin road is quite audible from many of Tara's sacred sites. I can only speak truthfully and accurately concerning my own case, where the Irish Government have failed to implement the Good Friday Agreement,i.e. their decision to arbitrarily exclude me from the early release scheme. The scheme was set out in the GFA, for the phased release of all Political Prisoners, and a completion time scale of two years meant that any POWs remaining after June 2000 would be automatically released. The Irish and British Governments passed appropriate laws to facilitate the releases and began processing the POWswhich basically went on the lines of 'first in, first out'. ... read full story / add a comment
