Supporters of the Shell to Sea campaign made sure to give Taoiseach Bertie Ahern up to date information when they were leafleting the crowd attending the 2007 Leinster Final at Croke Park yesterday.

Protesters against Shell's scheme in Mayo have been beaten and imprisoned, and many people believe Shell can do what they like because of the deal they made with corrupt Fianna Fáil Minister, Ray Burke. Bertie Ahern was a close colleague of Burke's at the time. ... read full story / add a comment

A ship that served on the US / British naval taskforce in the Persian Gulf during the invasion of Iraq visited "neutral" Cork Harbour at the weekend. Once again Irish neutrality was breached shamelessly. Rumour has it that more visits to Cork Harbour are likely in advance of next year's 70th anniversary of the 1938 handing over of the "Treaty Ports". Looks like we've effectively handed them back. ... read full story / add a comment

Activists from Leinster Ógra Shinn Féin showed their commitment to the Shell to Sea campaign by leafleting the crowds in O'Connell Street at lunchtime today. ÓSF groups from the country have been raising the issue of the giveaway of the country's natural resources, the health and safety crisis in Erris, and the appalling treatment of protesters against the Shell/Govt scheme from the jailing of the Rossport Five in 2005 to the latest court case where three innocent fishermen were given prison sentences on the say-so of Gardaí. ... read full story / add a comment

Supporters of the campaign to have Shell site their refinery offshore and for the Irish govt to secure Irish natural resources for the people showed their solidarity with the three Erris fisherment who have been wrongly jailed. A large group of about forty protesters handed in a short letter (signed by them all) to the minister expressing outrage at the treatment of the three men.

The Gardaí complained that the presence of such as a large group of people at the entrance of the building had health and safety implications, and tried to order those present to move, but it was poined out the health and safety implications of Shell's scheme for Mayo were a much greater threat to us all. ... read full story / add a comment

Few would disagree in or out of Lebanon that the attempt by Israel to occupy the country was defeated soundly. Little was achieved by the invasion except the killing of over a thousand people, the destruction of the country’s infrastructure and a consequent radicalisation of the population. Hizbullah came out of the war with its image enhanced and with the Shias, the largest section of the Lebanese population, supporting it to the hilt. ... read full story / add a comment
