The decision to flex the muscle of the campaign by this action was taken on Monday night at a meeting in Cabra. The massive meeting of between 500 to 600 people took place in St. Finbarr's GAA Club. All the seats were taken, people were standing up everywhere and out the doors into the hallways and fire exits ... read full story / add a comment

While we all look at Iraq, which is largely about oil, we miss Big Oil's dodge of liabilities in the "anti-smoke" crusade in Ireland (etc) that, among other things, ignores many petroleum-based tobacco pesticide residues. The corporation's announcement that non-collection would start today in Ringsend appears to have been a lie. Bin workers collected bins as usual and a great local protest approached them and, since they were collecting all the bins, we merely talked to them for 15 minutes to exchange information and let them go about their jobs. ... read full story / add a comment

the 'Next 5 Minutes' festival of new media is on in Amsterdam at present. Part of the event is the temporary creation of a huge online media library with high quality MPEG 4 files of activist/political film and video. The quality of the files is fine for screenings and all you need to do so is access to a laptop and a video projector.

So if you have a fast connection (I don't) then get downloading. ... read full story / add a comment
