Seemingly, at least, everything is very simple and nice. First, Israel displayed perfect loyalty to the U.S., which presumably will pay it back in economic and political coin. Second, Israel haters, led by France, have lined up with America's rivals, and Washington, presumably, will pay them back. The cold wind blowing from Iraq toward the four-sided forum will yank the road map out of the Quartet's hands and momentously return it to Washington. Third, President Bush has sent the UN into rehab, which is something that the disciples of Israel's "UN is irrelevant" camp always like to gloat over. Jerusalem should not derive satisfaction from the American decision to ignore the UN. Under the cover of the automatic American veto, Israel has held onto territory it does not own for the last 36 years. Apologies this isn't news. But I am currently pressing charges of assault against Garda CL75 which happenned in Shannon on March 1st. I'm looking for anyone who either witnessed the assault or has video evidence of the incident. I was told by someone on the day that they had video footage but stupidly didn't get his name. Members of the radical pacifist Catholic Worker movement are presently occupying offices of the Aviation Building. The anti-war activists have refused to leave the building in protest at the continued use of Shannon Airport by the U.S.military. A spokesperson for the group stated: "The civilian infrastructure of the Irish aviation industry has been surrendered by the Ahern government to the U.S.war machine, a war machine that continues to unleash indiscrimminate bombardment, napalm, cluster bombs and cruise missiles on the people of Iraq. Like the train tracks that lead to the town of Auschwitz, Shannon Airport has been militarised on an assembly line of death. People in Derry continue to oppose the attack on Iraq. A rally took place in Guildhall Square, Derry on Saturday afternoon (22 March) Between six hundred and a thousand people attended. The speakers included: a trade unionist, a young man from Youth Against War, a representative of Artists Against War, a doctor from the local hospital whose family live in Baghdad and someone from FEIC - who campaign against arms manufacturing in Derry.
