Translated from Le Soir US Ambassador slams anti-war Belgium 11 April 2003 BRUSSELS – The US Ambassador to Belgium has sent an angry letter to the Belgian government, accusing it of blatantly supporting the Iraqi regime. In an interview with the Flemish financial daily De Tijd, Brauer went as far as to suggest that the perceived lack of cooperation could result in Nato headquarters moving from Brussels to elsewhere. Foreign Affairs Minister Louis Michel, who came out in support of France and Germany in early February, condemning a war in Iraq without UN approval, was said to be ‘astonished’ by the letter’s content. ... read full story / add a comment
