news report

How come my article on 100 years of child abuse in Ireland was deleted? It was somewhat tongue in cheek but it is more relevant to Irish society than anything that is happening in Iraq. Did it touch a raw nerve with some of the commitee that decides what can be published on this so-called open forum?

Anything controversial will not last longer than ten minutes. You are no more independent than the Murdoch Press. You decide what is printed, not us.
Did you see my contribution THE ROAD TO BALLYSEEDY CROSS, published 15 April. How long will that last?
Dreary gits decide what you will read.

FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION

If you feel strongly about something, you can do what I did with my essay THE ROAD TO BALLYSEEDY CROSS, which is still on the indymedia site. However, I'm not depending on them. I've sent that essay all over the world as a plain text email, and it has reached the right people already.

I think they have a point

As I understand it, the purpose of this site is to provide a source of news which is independent of political/financial pressure. I think the fouders intended this to be the Reuters of free thinking people with the scoops provided by eyewitnesses and amateur or freelance journalists voluntarily publishing their stories. However, not a lot really happens in Ireland these days. BTW is there an indymedia Iraq?
Indymedia should consider translating some of the stories from South American Indymedia and other countries where bad stuff happens all the time - set up a sort of world headlines page in the major world languages.
I'm sure there's loads of places to publish jokes.

I vote to re-instate Caspian's article on 100 years of child abuse in Ireland. I'd be interested to see it.
Why exactly was it deleted? Editing is not an easy job for sure; somewhat thankless, even. But a good editor goes lightly with the scisors and excercises his authority with diplomacy and discretion.
Particularly interesting to me is the unreported parental abuse of children in the wake of the hysteria over non-parental child abuse. It is as if, somehow, parental abuse is a permitted pleasure.
There is also, of course, the killing and maiming of children by aerial bombardment as practised by the anglo-american military in Iraq. This particular form of abuse, however, entails no pleasure, and is therefore perfectly permissable.
We're a bunch of cigar chopping evil censors.
You decide, look wanna get involved join the editorial lists, instead of whinging here.
And No I don't know why it was deleted.
You're 'way ahead of me. I didn't see Caspian's article. Will someone please email me a copy of it. --Peter Newman,

while we are on the topic of Deletion, why, exactly, do the editors delete any article or comment that bears any reference whatsoever to zionist imperialism. Surely it is something that needs to be discussed.
(sorry i know this has nothing do do with child abuse)
I did track down that site for deleted articles, but it only showed a truncated version of Caspian's contribution. From reading that truncated version, I would suggest too that Caspian's article should be reinstated. I also hope that my contribution, THE ROAD TO BALLYSEEDY CROSS, an essay prompted by the start of the present war, and connecting with a shameful memory which is still contaminating Irish society, will not be deleted either. Let's have freedom of expression around here, or else what the hell are we doing here?
Will somebody please send me a complete copy of Caspian's article...

sorry just to clarify , the question above was prompted by a quick look through the list of deleted articles
Most articles are deleted for being crossposts. In recent weeks, there's also been a rash of anti-semitic comments and articles, and they've also been deleted (along with any other racist or sectarian posts).
Note - criticism of Israeli policies does not equal anti-semitism.
Joe Public does not have to apologize for being against Zionism. It's a perfectly legitimate political viewpoint. And, incorrect, Joe Public, Zionism has a lot to do with child abuse. Can you imagine the trauma of every Jewish male child who is abandoned by his mother on the eight day of his life? His mother abandons him and hands him over to the mutilators. Imagine the RAGE of every Jewish infant as his penis is being mutilated. His mother has abandoned him to the mutilators. The physical pain in his penis is intense. Where is his mother when he need her to protect him from the mutilators? And you say what is happening in Palestine today has nothing to do with child abuse?
Eight-day old babies will rage over pretty much anything.
So what's happening in the West Bank is because of a particular Jewish (NB not "Israeli") ritual.
Now explain to me, you sick bastard, how this is NOT anti-semitism.
The only thing I am writing against these days is child abuse. You will understand that if you read my essay, THE ROAD TO BALLYSEEDY CROSS, which was posted to indymedia recently and which I hope has not been deleted. I am against child abuse by the Irish, the Jews, the anybodies.... that's what I want to concentrate on.

I still have not received a full copy of Caspian's article. So I still don't know exactly what this discussion is about. Will somebody please send me a full copy of Caspian's article, and then we can try to have a rational conversation about it. Or are you all afraid to show your faces?

Correct me if I'm wrong but male circumcision is not a specifically Jewish ritual, it is also practiced by Muslims ....
How does criticism of ritual male circumcision equate to "anti-semitism" .......?
It would be a good thing if parents waited until their children are eighteen years old before they start suggesting that it would be nice to mutilate their sons' penises. Then maybe their sons could have some say in the matter. It all comes down to respect. Child abuse is child abuse. Moslems do it. Jews do it. The Irish do it. The English do it. However, a physical mutilation of your child's genital organs.... anyone who does that is really very sick. Forget about racism. Just think about every child in every tribe.

Be a dear and quit trying ti hawk your gibberish on this thread.
Your pretentious (Ohhh look "we are stardust" and William Reich quotes) article and it's tedious post modern writing still is utter cack, and the only satisfaction that can you from reading it is if you go to trouble of printing it out so I can wipe my arse with your nonsense.
These type of comments vindicate what I wrote. You wont give a serious and direct answer, only cheap name-calling. Thank you.
Thats right Peter you won. Congradulations.
Now be a dear and run along the grown up want to talk
I'll do it. I've already emailed the site administrator asking him or her to delete THE ROAD TO BALLYSEEDY CROSS from the publicly accessible newswire. I've had enough of your shit. I guess you're not ready for me yet.
