In a demonstration outside the Department of Education and Science last Thursday students from UCD called for an open publicly funded accessible education system for all. Around 60 students took part in the demonstration which was the result of a motion put forward by grass root councillors in the student union in response to the failure of the Union of Students Ireland to take any form of action over the grant issue this year apart from asking students to vote in the upcoming May general election, in an effort to apply pressure to candidates to take action on the grant. ... read full story / add a comment

Every day, we cut down more forests and release more pollutants and toxins into the air and water. We can't change the system because a few corporations are making monstrous profits off destructive production techniques or resource extraction, and the world's political systems are controlled by murderous regimes in the pockets of the corporations. Mother Earth can only absorb so much damage. We have to act now! The purpose of eco-sabotage is to take the profit out of exploitation and take the profit out of murder (of human beings, animals, the planet) by damaging corporations in ways that cost them lots of money. When people think eco-sabotage, setting things on fire always comes to mind. Arson has its obvious merits, but people just getting into the practice of eco-sabotage may want to consider some alternatives. Arson, at least is in the United States, is a felony charge, incurring much more jail ... read full story / add a comment

This is an invitation to anyone who would like to join a direct action campaign to end Ireland's participation in Bush's so-called "war on terrorism". Twenty to thirty chemicAL suited individuals have been observed here in the last 30 or 40 minutes positioning themselves throughout the centre of the town from the square right up Park Street. They are replying to querys about their presence by telling people to go about their business. This is a new one on us here in the town. Even the local Gardai seem to be clueless as to what is going on. They are however pointedly not interfering with the individuals in question. What is going on? What are these people up to? There is nothing on the news to suggest anything is amiss. ... read full story / add a comment
