On Monday night (13th December) two women facing deportation with their
families spoke out at a Galway City Council Meeting presided over by the
mayor of Galway and attended by supporters who packed the public seats.
Together with Women in Media and Entertainment (WIME), they have campaigned
publicly on their own behalf and for others fighting deportation and the
devastating effects of the Citizenship Referendum. They have used the local
and national media as well as street stalls, petitions and letters to
government to advertise their case. WIME worked to get the council to hear

The Other America. BP, US Steel and other corporations bribed the politicians of Indiana to reassess their tax base and reduce their tax liability. The reduction of taxes that followed was then passed onto the taxes on the homes of working class people. 200,000 families are now estimated to be in danger of losing their homes. But a fight back is under way. Cant't Pay Won't Pay with the the bottom line being that nobody will loose their home. These are the main ideas of the campaign. The tactics are mass fight to win action exposing the politicians and the corporations and their corrupt rotten system.

Over 130 people met to launch this campaign in Hammond Indiana on monday night. The success of last night's meeting far surpassed anything could have been hoped for. Over 130 residents came out to the meeting in bitter cold temperatures of 20 below. The campaign is under way. John Throne. ... read full story / add a comment

Activists with the anti racism network in the north were last week circulating an email encouraging people to "share their feelings" with Mary Lloyd, Managing Director of Homefinders Belfast, the racist estate agency that barred black, chinese and other minority ethnic families from applying for homes. The scale and significance of US military use of Shannon airport has taken on a new dimension with the revelations that Shannon has become part of the illegal movement and torture of prisoners, and the airport's increasing level of use by US military and civil leaders. What an amazing turnout! No one in their wildest dreams could have foreseen the massive turnout for yesterday's postal workers March organised as part of the Communication Workers Union (CWU) "National Day of Action". Over 8,000 according to this morning's newspapers An Post workers and their families took part in what the Gardaí described as the largest March in Dublin since the Anti war Marches last year. I will try and give as good an account as I can of how yesterday went but ye'll have to forgive me if parts of this are a bit sketchy and patchy as due to the huge crowd I was near the end of the March on Molesworth Street. ... read full story / add a comment

As the Guardian wins access to court files relating to Alvis (now owned by BAe systems) having had Indonesian Dictator Suahrto's daughter on the pay role. As surveillance & dodgy activity appears to be stepping up around the Pit Stop Ploughshares awaiting trial in Dublin. It may be worth revisiting what gone before.

The following web site has been set up dealing with the infiltration by a private intelligence agency hired by BAe to infiltrate the moderate "Campaign Against the Arms Trade" and the radical Liverpool Catholic Worker & Bread Not Bombs Plowshares support.

The High Court this morning ruled in favour of a case appealed from the
Circuit Court on behalf of the Dublin City Campaign Against the Bin Tax.
In this landmark case, Justice Lindsay found that the City Council illegally
applied bin charges for the years 2001/2002, on the basis that they defied
their own criteria and failed to provide incentives for re-cycling. ... read full story / add a comment
