Kildare Conty Council has ruled that communications antennae and other equipment adjacent to a junior primary school are "exempt development" following a six-month delay. Antennae were placed at the side of a hotel over several years without planning permission. The most recent installation included two cabinets, antennae and trunked cabling which was installed to go over the roof. The 280 children at Scoil San Carlo, Confy, Leixlip are being exposed to numerous signals. It is a recognised scientific fact that children absorb 75 percent of this type of radiation into their brains. ... read full story / add a comment

Management at Green Isle still refuse to engage with TEEU, LRC, NIB, or Labour Court. This despite the fact that they have accepted Irish State Aid to the tune of €43,000,000. AN animal welfare charity that rehomes abandoned greyhounds for Bord na gCon has been told to pick up a huge tab after the board said it has no more money to give them. Gina Hetherington of PAWS in Sallins, Co Kildare, says she has been left reeling by the news that the Irish Greyhound Board's 2006 fund for retired dogs, which stands at €250,000, is apparently gone - despite being just four months into the year. The charity, which rescues abandoned greyhounds from pounds, may now have to find up to €145,000 to cover veterinary bills, kennel boarding fees and transport costs or else leave the unwanted dogs to their grisly fate. ... read full story / add a comment

There was an excellent response from members of the public and passers by to a protest in support of Joanne Delaney that took place outside the new Dunnes Stores in Maynooth in the Manor Mills Shopping Centre. The Mayor of Kildare Cllr. John McGinley came along to support the protest. In a shift in tactics security threatened to call the Gardaí on protestors. The protest was held by members of the Labour Party in NUI Maynooth and Maynooth town. Needless to say this attempt to scare away the protestors was ignored. ... read full story / add a comment |
