On Monday 5th of January members of Sinn Féin youth took to Lurgan Town Centre to protest at the conflict currently raging in the middle east. Protesting in the town centre, Ógra Shinn Féin flew the Palestinian flag and carried posters calling for an end to Israeli military action in Gaza. Armagh Ógra Shinn Féin took part in commemorative day to remember the Hunger Strikes of 1980-1981 on Friday 1st September in the Armagh City Hotel. Young republicans from the Lurgan area engaged with local students today the 22nd May, in remembrance of the 1981 Hunger Strike. A leaflet drop at a local high school saw hundreds of students given information leaflets about the Hunger Strike and details about the developing Ógra group in the area. IRA - North Armagh Brigade On thursday, 10th november as i watched the evening news i saw a report of a women who informed the viewers of how the MOD came knocking on her door delivering news that her partner had been killedby the Iraqi Resistance forces. Damn imperialists i thought, they get what they deserve! Further more i thought how would i repond if someone came to my door to inform me that a Comrade had been killed? The following day i was completely and uterly shocked to read on one of the Celtic e news lists that Martin Conlon had been killed in 'mysterious circumstances on Monday, 6th November.' I would like to pay a tribute to the late Vol. Martin 'Golfball' Conlon. Craigavon Trades Council organised another successfull petition signing in Portadown Town centre on Saturday 24th September. As expected the response was very positive and supportive.There being a huge grassroots opposition to the impossition of this unfair double tax. However the one worrying trend was a certain ammount of resignation that for all our efforts the government would push this through come what may. If feel this is due in no small way to the over all lack lustre campaign mounted by the "Coalition"..
