Actor Cillian Murphy today (Monday 23rd Feb) helped launch a major public awareness campaign for the charity Focus Ireland to highlight the growing problem of homelessness and social housing crisis in Ireland. February marks the start of a campaign to call on organizations and initiatives to sign the European Manifesto for Minority Community Media. This manifesto supports and underlines the importance of minority community media and calls for recognition of the role this sector plays in Europe. The initiators aim to get as many signatures as possible by 15 April 2004. Organizations and initiatives interested to sign the European Manifesto can do so from 9 February 2004 onwards. The campaign will culminate in the presentation of the manifesto to the President of the European Parliament before the European elections in 2004.

Young Fine Gael President William Lavelle has today asked CIE to introduce a new €5 national travel card for students of 3rd level colleges outside Dublin.
