It is both necessary and prudent for the Irish people to engage in the shape, form and nature that a re-united Ireland will take. inn Féin believes that there is a responsibility on the Irish government to bring forward a strategy to achieve National determination, Irish reunification, political independence, sovereignty and nation reconciliation. Sinn Féin in Meath is launching the campaign to get the Irish government to initiate this process and bring forward a Green Paper on Irish Unity. We will be taking this campaign to every corner of the county in the coming months and seek support from each individual who want to bring unification about by democratic means. ... read full story / add a comment

"Cú Chulainn is the mascot of the TARA SOS campaign. When Cú Chulainn was slain during his last battle, his head, sword-arm and Golden Shield were taken to Tara. Today, his statue commemorates the heroes of 1916 in the GPO. We aim to commemorate Cú Chulainn by preserving Tara, and to save the Irish people up to €60m in the process." ... read full story / add a comment

The proposed gas pipeline in Erris, County Mayo, has at various times been referred to as either a transmission, distribution, domestic, offshore, sales or upstream pipeline, and even “offshore landline”. One thing is certain; no-one outside of the Shell/Statoil/Marathon partnership can take responsibility for the safety of the public. This is the number one concern for the people of Rossport. ... read full story / add a comment

national / consumer issues Tuesday August 16, 2005 - 11:22 by Roger Clifford
Craigavon Trades Council hosted an open meeting in opposition to the introduction of water charges. The meeting was designed to consider the best ways to progress the campaign which now includes a provence wide petition. While the meeting was very useful, the fact that only one political party (Sinn Fein) attended the meeting was a clear indication that a lot of hard work was going to be nessessary. The lack of interest from the political parties (apart from the above mentioned) was in sharp contrast to the "bluster" heard from ALL the political parties during the recent election campaign. It seems clear that if any serious opposition to this unjust double tax is going to be mounted it is going to come from within local community groups, Trade Unions, and members of the wider general public. Hopefully the campaign will now begin to take shape, and with a sufficient groundswell of support the other political parties might consider rejoining the fight. ... read full story / add a comment
