ILLEGAL Guns on sale OPENLY at the Galway Races while Bertie bets on the horses. Illegal firearms in the form of pellet guns with plastic bullets were on sale openly today at the Galway Races. Up to 15 stalls were observed selling three different types of guns from Handgun size to Rifle starting at 15 euro. Others including children were observed selling the illegal items from the back of vans. ‘These guns will no doubt be used to slaughter innocent cats, dogs and birds. The plastic orange bullets could also take a child’s eye out. We are disgusted at the Race organisers who obviously are turning a blind eye to this activity, along with a total disregard for the growing number of cruelty cases and deaths involved in Horse Racing. ... read full story / add a comment

Its two years after the G8 agreed to ‘Make Poverty History’ and yet 1 billion people are still without access to clean water, according to a recent report by the United Nations World Institute for Development. Blackletter are organising a skills exchange project called '10x10x10', to take place in Autumn 2007 We are looking for proposals from artists or other interested parties who have an interesting or useful skill to share. 10 people will be selected to deliver 10 workshops over 10 weeks. Surely a pet dog cannot be taken from someone purely because he is a certain breed, especially if he is under proper control and has not done anything wrong. If Dublin City Council can get away with this unfair proposition then what will come next?. This situation must constitute discrimination at the very least. The very idea that DCC are responsible for dogs who bite people on council property is wrong surely?. It was my understanding that owners are responsible for the actions of their pets. If a person falls off a ladder in a Council house are the Council responsible for that too Besides being indiscriminate , this proposition is unenforceable. Where will the dogs be taken to and by whom?. Who will rehome them??? How long will they be kept and where? There is already legislation already in place against dog fighting, if this law was enforced we would not have this problem. ... read full story / add a comment |
