For the sake of those who have not read Village magazine this week (3-9 June), I am posting a copy of a letter I've had published, in which I point out that the old media, in their coverage of the appointment of George Bush and the invasion of Iraq, have committed all the crimes that the magazine's media analyst, Conor Brady, in last week's issue accused bloggers of committing. ... read full story / add a comment

Employees in the logistics industry all over Britain are being electronically tagged by their bosses in order to monitor and control their activities in the work-place. It's a new way in which productivity is increased and individual people are further reduced to being passive non-thinking cogs in a machine. According to statements made by some of the employers using these devices, we'll even learn to love these new chains. I've never heard of these devices before so I can't say how prevalent their use is in Ireland. I'd be interested to see what action the GMB union will take given that they "will not stand by to see our members reduced to automatons.” If these tags aren't stopped across the water, it's likely that the same multinationals will also introduce them here in Ireland. ... read full story / add a comment

The International Criminal Court in the Hague, Netherlands, was established by European nations of the €U under the Rome Statute as the last court of international crime. It is the only international court which is permenant and ratified and stablished to promote the rule of law and ensure that the gravest international crimes do not go unpunished. It is not completely recognised by the USA which resents its "inteference". It has opened investigations into Darfur- “The investigation will require sustained cooperation from national and international authorities. It will form part of a collective effort, complementing African Union and other initiatives to end the violence in Darfur and to promote justice. Traditional African mechanisms can be an important tool to complement these efforts and achieve local reconciliation.” ... read full story / add a comment

As the war drums of the Bush Administration drone into background noise, a growing number across the globe turn their eyes to the USA itself. The view becomes a prelude to the upcoming horror feature of this planets history - the Day America Turns on Herself! The Heartland of Liberty is being shaken to its very core by the growing disquiet in its People, and as the onlookers stand appalled, the very foundations of this planets concept of Liberty are eroded and turned to shifting sands of displaced freedom. As a planet, The People heard the lies told to cause War. As a Planet, The People heard the changing tales as justification to cause War. As a Planet, we stand helpless and watch the internal and deliberate destruction of the single heartplace of Liberty for all men, America. ... read full story / add a comment

The French have excelled. People started reading books, thinking, and voting. The Dutch followed on. What will happen in Ireland? Will there be another No vote election not be acceptable to Govt . Let us recall, the 'machinery' kicked in another strategic vote....and apathy and people beckoned to the call of the Master!!! Will it be the same this time....Do we really need to waste money on holding an 'Election' as a form of token gesture. Where are the Watchdogs? Who has the teeth?
