"RESIDENTS of the Usk area, just outside Kilcullen, are continuing their campaign against the siting of a so-called superdump in their area. The proposal by Greenstar was originally turned down by Kildare Co Council because it contravened the county plan but, following an An Bord Plean·la hearing, the board over-turned that decision and gave permission for the landfill project to go ahead. An Irish farmer has used the Ryder Cup and the endless streams of choppered in VIP's to make a general point on peace. The farmer describes how 'as the rich and powerful politicians chopper their way to the Ryder Cup, they might have to avert their gaze from my little farm next door.' Why? Because on this small area of farm land beside the K-Club venue he has made a huge CND style peace symbol encircled with a 'peace on earth' slogan. Weird or what?
