The following passage may appear to be a string of non-sequiturs. That's just the punctuation. It is in fact a (slightly banal) list of reasons why people volunteer to take part in community development and other altruistic, organised and unpaid activity and work. ... read full story / add a comment

I thought this might be of interest for assorted lefts. I've written this article for a music fanzine in my own area, but it certainly has political relevance, especially for fans of the German industrial metal group. The politics of Rammstein have been debated for years, but those who I have spoken with have always been a little unsure of the actual stance of the band. Hopefully this article will go towards clearing this debate up in some ways. Any constructive criticism is appreciated. ... read full story / add a comment

I can remember the first time I stood with my father on a terrace and watched men chase a bag of wind around a field. I still can be found standing on those steps in all sorts of weather. ... read full story / add a comment
