How many times will U.S. elected Representatives of the U.S. House and Senate have to kiss Israel’s ass, and in how many ways, before “our” country will build a true national security team—that is one actually focused on U.S. security and not primarily on Israel’s? It is bad enough when Jewish-Americans politicians (with more substantive allegiance to Israel than the U.S.) like junior Senator Ben Cardin for Maryland, claiming his decision on whether Chuck Hagel will be a good Secretary of Defense resides on whether he is onboard with Israel’s/AIPAC’s agenda of having war with Israel’s enemy Iran (at least as backup force); or NY Senator Chuck Schumer equivocating about not “feeling” comfortable with voting for Hagel because of some of Hagel’s past attitudes; but even more so with suck-ups like Lindsey Graham giving about the best ass-kissing one could expect (to think some confederates once had some principle of pride and independence). ... read full story / add a comment

World War Two was an imperialist war. It had nothing to do with democracy. Britain, France and even the USA has colonised and repressed peoples around the world. There was no democracy at work here. Parts of the world were direct undemocratic colonies of Britain and France. A war for democracy against fascism could not be fought by Empires that maintained such colonies.
The principled position of revolutionary communism concerning World War Two is that it was an inter-imperialist conflict involving the unavoidable military engagement of Stalinist Russia in the interests of protecting from destruction by imperialism. The adoption of a human rights instrument by the UN General Assembly in Dec 2008 led to the Global Financial Crisis in 2009. Changes involving international human rights law strongly favored the poorer Developing Asia, incl China, over the West. However, in human rights 'the ends do not justify the means'. This pipeline from the Alberta Tar Sands would be shipping millions of tons of unprocessed Bitumen, of the dirtiest sort, and it will cause pollution eventually along the pristine Canadian West Coast. This enbridge pipeline deal is owned by the Oil Monopolies of Canada, United States, and China. It is a threat to the very oxygen that is in the atmosphere which is already gone by 38% to carbon-dioxide. You can see that no coal, gas, oil or atomic energy is safe and in fact the globe is in the fail-safe mode now because more carbon-dioxide is cascading into the atmosphere than oxygen which cannot be replaced fast enough to plus the air for the air breathing oxygen needed to live on. do we remember some years ago. a African youth who with his friends was out playing football. if my mind recall it was during the Easter holidays. some years ago. today in Dublin the jury gave its verdict into the murder of this youth. we cant afford to be smug and sit back and say what can we do about it. becoming full with apathy. we cant afford to remain indifferent. with attitude it doesn't affect me. ''A deaf man has apologised for the death of a man who was hit by a bus following an alleged roadside altercation, a court has heard. Edward Connors, who is profoundly deaf, has been charged with the manslaughter of Eoghan Dudley. The 28-year-old died last Thursday evening after suffering severe head injuries in the incident in Dublin city centre. Connors, 29, who has been living in a homeless hostel in Dublin, was brought before the city's District Court where proceedings were translated through a sign language interpreter. Cahir O'Higgins, defending, requested that his client have an interpreter present when booked in to prison. He told the judge that Connors also relied on a methadone prescription and asked that all medical assistance be given to him in prison. No application was made for bail. Overheard in Dublin 2. Leaving the rich untouched while bleeding the people dry appears possibly an official policy. Based largely on an assumption that there is 'really no suffering' and those claiming pain are delusional, our leaders suffer little and act accordingly. Three out of our top four ministers were once teachers, they have had long and successful political careers and have never known the suffering that comes from austerity. There is an insidious absence of understanding for those who carry this state, the workers for the most part in the private sector who provide vital services and support through tax for the equally vital services provided by our state. These privately generated taxes are vital, without which there would be not support. The forthcoming budget has apparently not been discussed in An Dáil though is only days away.
