She pays no rent though, because she is one of thousands of people across the UK who is squatting. Rosa Parks died at the age of 93 on October 24, 2005. It was 50 years ago that Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white man aboard a city bus in Montgomery, Alabama. She was arrested and convicted of violating the state’s segregation laws. Her act of civil disobedience was the spark that lit the flames of the American civil rights movement - a long struggle for freedom which inspired others around the world to do the same - including our fellow countrymen north of the border. read full story / add a comment |
