Peace campaigner and environmentalist Eoin Dubsky is running for election to the European Parliament and he needs your help. Because he is running as an independent candidate in the East (Leinster) constituency for the European election, he needs 60 registered voters from the area to sign up as "assenters" endorsing his campaign. The authorities have made it quite difficult, where you need to sign the nomination form in the County Council head office during office hours next week only , and not including lunch. read full story / add a comment

All wars have one common thing, war is not something you buy from store, it is something that grows in the nature we call capitalism and it is also a terrible tragedy to humankind and we cannot achieve peace without giving the necessary sacrifice building our anti-capitalist movement by saying no to guns and violence that keeps this world turning around and around like a hurricane that destroys all it can touch without leaving people noithing or verry little to say at least. read full story / add a comment

social and democratic, feminist and ecologist, peaceful and in solidarity

February 15, 2003, was a historic date: tens of millions of people, all around the world, demonstrated to stop the war. Moreover, these unprecedented mobilisations show a strong political will to impose universal peace, justice, international solidarity and social equality on those in power.
That day a new Europe was born. A rank and file Europe that is confronting the European Union and the ruling classes whose instrument it is. read full story / add a comment

Eoin Dubsky (24) from Ballymoney, Gorey in north Wexford is to contest a seat in the European Parliament elections for the East (Leinster) constituency as an independent candidate. The young peace activist and environmental campaigner helped throw Ireland's role in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq into the spotlight when he spray-painted a U.S. warplane at Shannon Airport and took the Irish government to court later the same week in 2002. read full story / add a comment

Several polls have shown that a solid majority of Irish people oppose the occupation of Iraq by the United States and oppose the use of Shannon airport by the US military. Over 100,000 Irish people protested against this war in February 2003 in Dublin, and Irish people are even more opposed to it now. It is obvious that with a little organization and planning an enormous protest of Bush's visit to Ireland could be made, involving as many as 200,000 Irish people. This would have a significant impact on Irish and US policy, on the coming US election and on the continuation of the war in Iraq.

How can this protest be avoided? How can Irish people be persuaded to stay home? How can we ensure that any action is as ineffectual and minimal as possible? read full story / add a comment

Corporate media reports often hide as much as they reveal. (Just what were those pesky protestors so angry about anyway?)

We might expect better from the independent or left media. Sometimes we get better and sometimes we don't. Indymedia itself contains some of the best and worst elements of non-corporate news sources. In this report I decided to look at what lies behind a story contained in the latest issue of a left paper. read full story / add a comment
