Fundraiser in Galway for AmBush2004!

category galway | anti-war / imperialism | event notice author Friday May 07, 2004 15:13author by NoBody - AmBush2004! Report this post to the editors

Djs including Dj Fíor to play áras na ngael, Dominick street on Thurs 13th May to raise funds for AmBush2004!

On Thursday 13th May there will be a fundraiser for AmBush2004! in áras na ngael on Dominick Street, Galway. Fresh, up and coming Djs will be mixing it up with a range of trance, techno, groovy house and will probably be open to requests! Best to get there early.
Admission €3 Doors open 9pm

AMBUSH 2004! was initiated from a meeting attended by representatives of Mid-West Alliance Against Military Aggression, Galway Grassroots Group, Cork Grassroots Group, and Dublin Grassroots Group.

From our last meeting on the 18th of April we are proposing the following strategy:

We have local protests before Bush arrives – these to be directed at Top Oil, the company which re-fuels the American warplanes at Shannon, or Esso, in view of their financing of Bush's election campaign, and as a way of highlighting the oil-profit-war axis.

We echo the call for a demonstration at Shannon airport on the night of Friday June 25th coming out of the initial Anti-War Ireland meeting.

The latest E.U.-U.S. summit is to take place in Dromoland castle in Clare, in the west of Ireland, on the 26th of June.

George Bush is to land in Shannon airport on Friday the 25th, and to be ferried from there to the summit place by helicopter, before going
on to a NATO meeting in Turkey.

We are proposing an extremely noisy protest so bring all your ear banging equipment! Pots, pans, whistles, drums you name it we want it. We aim to include all peoples of the island and elsewhere. This is a protest for the masses and we will not be scared away by false and evil media stories. An 'all hands around Shannon' action has been proposed with candles and any light form so the big ape can see us from the air. (Hopefully)
We aim to establish an international peace camp in Shannon, at least for the duration of the summit.

The next AMBUSH 2004! meeting takes place in Limerick, at 2pm on Saturday the 8th of May.
