Owen Rice, anti-war activist, was arrested, and then beaten in police custody in Galway two weeks ago during protests at the EU meeting there. He was taken (by the Garda) to hospital as a result of the injuries inflicted on him. He is in court in Galway on Monday Feb. 2nd on charges trumped up during the assault he endured. Full details (including photos) of this event are on www.indymedia.ie The court is the big neo-classical building opposite the Town Hall Theatre just down from the big church yoke that you pass if you are going from uni. to town. You can go for the whole day if you want, but for people who cannot a picket/protest/whatever is being called for one o'clock 1pm happening just outside the courthouse. read full story / add a comment |
