Richard Perle's statement is the strongest admission yet that the US' seeming endorsement of the UN inspection program is just a bunch of lies. Post this story around the world! The true intentions of the US must be known in every country that has been persuaded or reassured by the US appearing to address the Iraq question through the UN Security Council. read full story / add a comment

Notice to activists in Cork, just after noticing fascist stickers that have been stuck round Parnell Place and at the top of Wintrop Street from NSRUS.com (the Irish nazi outfit – acronym means “National Socialists R Us”- how original). Keep an eye out for them elsewhere and take them down, managed to scrap a few off some lamp-posts etc. Classic Irish nazi slogans “Say No to a Black Ireland” etc etc. Thanks Eugene Cork SWP read full story / add a comment

Sorry about the short notice of this announcement. As part of ongoing solidarity work with the striking Fire Brigade Union workers the Belfast Local of Organise! - ASF will be supporting the picket line at Central Station (that's Fire Station), opposite the Limelight on Ormeau Avenue. This will be followed with a stall and fundraising in Belfast city centre for the striking fire-fighters hardship fund. We would urge anyone who can get to the picket line to show solidarity to do so and would also ask for assistance with fundraising in the city centre. Solidarity is strength. In Florence, the SWP certainly did make an impression. There is no doubt that the 500 or so comrades the International Socialist Tendency mobilised were noticed by every single person in the Fortezza. Where the thousands of Rifondazione members modestly tried to camouflage their organisation, the SWP was promoting itself unashamedly. read full story / add a comment

Far-right BNP lands surprise council seat - The far-right British National Party has taken a council seat in northwest England in a surprise by-election victory. The BNP, which already holds three council seats in the area, won the Mill Hill seat in Blackburn on Thursday night with a majority of just 16 votes. After a recount, BNP candidate Robin Evans won the seat with 578 votes to Labour's 562, against 505 for the Liberal Democrats and 154 for the Conservatives. Turnout was 39 percent. The result sparked fears among mainstream parties that the BNP could make further advances in the northwest, scene of inter-racial rioting last summer. read full story / add a comment
